PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WPXI) -- The third suspect in the stabbing of Pittsburgh Steeler Mike Adams was back in Pittsburgh as of Friday and identified as the one who allegedly stabbed Adams in a photo lineup.
Jerrell Whitlock and his girlfriend, Precious Gethers, were both brought to the Allegheny County Jail. Whitlock only shook his head back and forth when Channel 11’s Alan Jennings asked for a comment. However, Gethers was more vocal saying, “No, get back. Back the (explicit) up.”
Gethers faces charges of harboring a fugitive, her boyfriend, Whitlock.
Whitlock faces charges of attempted murder, accused of stabbing Adams twice in the stomach. Those stab wounds required two critical surgeries for a lacerated colon.
Whitlock, Gethers and their young child were arrested in a Florida motel near Jacksonville two weeks ago.
Allegheny sheriff’s Deputy Lt. and Chief of Security for the Steelers, Jack Kearney, spoke about Whitlock’s capture.
"Mr.Whitlock happened to escape through the rear door, saw the U.S. Marshals in the back of the building, and retreated back in. The marshals went to go after him and were forced to [use a stun gun on] him," said Kearney.
Whitlock’s sister, Katrina Whitlock, claims her brother was roughed up when he was arrested.
“They were throwing him around, hitting him. They were [using a stun gun on] him,” said Katrina Whitlock.
Whitlock’s mother, Joan Whitlock, took issue with surveillance video that shows her son and two other suspects.
“Well, I seen the video. I didn’t recognize them doing anything wrong in it. I seen three men running,” said Joan Whitlock.
Whitlock and his girlfriend face arraignment while they sit in the county jail.
Two other suspects, Michael Parnay and Dquay Means, were arrested shortly after the stabbing occurred.
