PALATKA, Fla. -- Three men were arrested on burglary charges in Putnam County last Friday.
At approximately 10:05 a.m. on Oct. 19, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper clocked a blue sedan traveling northbound at 90 miles per hour in a posted 60 zone. The trooper made a traffic stop on State Road 19 at Camp Road in Putnam County.
The trooper learned the car was a rental car. He observed the driver and two passengers acting nervous. The driver was identified as Jeremy Jvon Melton, 19, of Palatka.
The trooper, after observing continuous nervous behavior by the occupants, called for routine backup from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. After the deputies arrived, they advised the car and its occupants were just involved in a home invasion off County Road 310.
The passengers were Gerald Owens Jr., 22, of Palatka, and Allen Cornelius Ferguson, 19, of Palatka.
During the investigation, authorities found marijuana and oxycodone. The Putnam Sheriff's Office arrested the men and charge them with burglary to an occupied dwelling.
