LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Two fugitives from Indiana were discovered in a Columbia County hotel thanks to a tipster.
Daniel Wimmer, 35, and Rhonda Lee Russell-Smith, 47, were wanted for grand theft in Clarksville, Ind. Investigators there believe they took $100,000 in rare coins and jewelery from someone with whom they were staying. A tipster led police to the Gateway Inn on U.S. 90 where the couple checked into under an assumed identity, according to the report.
Bond for the couple was set at $65,000 total and they will remain in the Columbia County Detention Center until the extradition process is complete.
