WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Palm Beach Post
) -- A 27-year-old West Palm Beach woman was arrested this week on a trafficking charge from 2012.
Claudia Y. Salinas, 27, who allegedly was caught speeding and driving in her car topless, was arrested Monday on a charge of trafficking in cocaine.
She remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail late Tuesday in lieu of $75,000 bond.
Salinas was initially taken into custody the morning of Sept. 20, 2012, after deputies stopped her car. She was released from custody, but later arrested when she violated terms of that release, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.
According to the report, Salinas was driving in the area of Okeechobee Boulevard and Baywinds Drive when she was clocked driving at 75 mph, 25 mph over the posted speed limit. After the traffic stop, a deputy noticed that Salinas was not wearing a top and that her car smelled of marijuana.
The deputy asked her to cover up and a drug detection dog was called to the scene. The dog alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics and they searched Salinas’ car.
They found both powdered and crack cocaine, as well as more than $1,000 in cash, the report said.
