ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A family feels fortunate after a tree crashed into their home on Big Oak Road South.

No injuries are being reported, but Matthew Sara with St. Johns County Fire Rescue said the home is a total loss.

Four adults and one child live in the home. They were home overnight when the high winds sent the tree crashing into their living room.

"Normally, a lot of times, I sleep on this couch right here," said Dwyane Myers, who was in a nearby bedroom when the tree fell. "The limb would have come through there and went straight through my sternum, you know it would have been all over."

FPL disconnected power to the home. The Red Cross assisted the family with temporary housing until repairs could be made to the home.
