JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A low pressure area over the the Central Tropical Atlantic Ocean has becom Tropical Depression Fifteen.
Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph. It's about 1160 miles to the west of the Cape Verde Island...and therefore, is no threat to land.
There are obstacles in the Depression's future, but some strengthening is forecast in the short term. It is expected to become Tropical Storm Oscar in the next 48 hours. Beyond that, T.D. #15 will likely encounter wind shear and weaken...eventually absorbed by a large extratropical low moving east across the Atlantic.
