ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A crash caused Interstate 95 to jam up at County Road 210 for most of the Wednesday evening commute. It backed up all the way to Jacksonville.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a truck full of asphalt blew a tire, slammed into a guardrail and overturned. The driver of the truck was flown to UF & Shands Hospital in Jacksonville with serious injuries.

No word yet on his condition.

yeah i imagine a whole lot of preventive repairs have gone by the wayside due to the recession,, thereby putting the motoring public in danger !!! the d.o.t. needs to step up its enforcement now more than ever,, as truck tires don't suddenly blow out,, unless overloaded, or damaged previously,, or underinflated.. so the driver didn't do his job properly & chose to operate an unsafe vehicle !!! drove em for 40 years & never had a problem,, wasn't right,, it didn't move till it was !!!simple !!!
