JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Duval County Health Department has launched an investigation after two cases of active Tuberculosis were confirmed at Andrew Jackson High School.

Tuberculosis, or TB, is a disease caused by germs spread from person to person in close contact through air.

About 100 students and six staff have been identified for testing. Those people will be evaluated and offered therapy if found to be infected.

The investigation began after one student was hospitalized with TB. That student has since been released.

A parent information meeting has been schedule at the school for Thursday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m.

The health department says it is still an active investigation.

How can this be in this day and age? TB wiped out whole streets of people in Brunswick back in the 20's.
