JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Twilight fever is hitting Jacksonville.
The new movie, Twilight: New Moon opens in Theaters at midnight on Friday and tickets are already sold out for the midnight showing. But many fans are excited to see Jacksonville-native Ashley Greene in the movie.
Kristi Ciresi is reminisced about the days she coached Ashley Greene.
"It's really cool to see who she is and how far she's come in life, so I'm very proud of her," said Ciresi.
But Greene isn't that awkward teenager anymore. She's a star in the hit movie series, Twilight. Her character, Alice Cullen, is an upbeat pixie-like psychic. But before hitting the big screen, Greene was like these girls at University of Christian school right here in Jacksonville. Greene was the captain when her team won nationals. She later graduated from Wolfson High School.
Her math teacher says she always had a flare for bright lights.
"She just took the stage and she shined on stage," said Cyndy Talley.
Greene isn't just a movie star. Her teachers say she was a hard-worker in the classroom and on the squad.
"She was one of those students. She did her homework all the time well prepared for class and made A's on all her tests," said Talley. "Naturally you're drawn to the ones that work hard and have good attitudes, and that's Ashley always," said Ciresi.
Now, her cheerleading coach is glad her hard work paid off and her dream of becoming a Hollywood actress came true.
"It's cool to see kids grow up and make it in this world," said Ciresi.
Greene's parents and brother still live in Jacksonville.
