FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- A man and woman were arrested today after a bank robbery.

A man wearing a purple mask walked into the SunTrust Bank at 5211 S. Fletcher Ave. at 1:25 p.m. today. The man was approached by a bank employee, at which time he fled the bank on foot.

At about 2 p.m. a bank-robbery alarm was triggered at the First Coast Community Bank at 1750 S. 14th St. A man wearing a purple mask and claiming to be armed with a handgun announced a robbery and demanded money from the bank tellers. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.

Nassau County Sheriff's Deputies and Fernandina Beach Police stopped all westbound traffic and conducted a visual search for the suspect on the Shave Bridge. At 2:25 p.m. Chance Tyler Bennett was arrested by city and county law enforcement.

Bennett was found hiding in the back of a minivan driven by Mandy Elizabeth Hagen. Both are facing charges of armed bank robbery.
