Lake City, Fla. -- Two caregivers have been arrested and charged with neglecting the elderly.

On Saturday morning, Lake City officers were called to 506 S.W. Alamo Drive by the victim's son to check on his 73-year-old father, John M. Espinship. The senior was found to be in a state of neglect and the two caregivers were arrested.

Investigators found that Dennis J. Evans, 38, and Janice D. Evans, 53, were paid by the family to provide homecare and food to Espinship, and they had not been doing so. Both were arrested on felony charges of neglect of the elderly and exploitation of the elderly and booked at the Columbia County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending. Anyone having information about this incident can contact the Lake City Police Department anonymously on the TIP line at (386) 719-2068.
