Two people, including a candidate's wife, charged with 30 counts of election fraud
LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Two people from Lake City faces 30 counts relating to election fraud.
The FBI and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) says the allegations surround the District 10 city council seat of Eugene Jefferson. Investigators say Betty Jefferson, 64, and Linda Ivery, 56, asked voters to sign absentee ballots that were already filled out, obtained ballots by fraud, and attempted to fool people into signing ballots.
Betty Jefferson, Eugene's wife, faces 24 felony counts and two misdemeanor violations. Ivery is charged with six felonies and two misdemeanors. Both turned themselves in and were released.
