JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Brooklyn is the up and coming part of town that unites Riverside and Downtown. Condos are going up and grocery stores are moving in.
And now, the developers are planning to build a 2,000-seat amphitheater next to the 220 Riverside project.
Alex Coley with Hallmark Partners said, "It's a central gathering place for the community to come together and recognize each other and lift each other up."
They have big plans for the place.
"About four times a year, we plan to have big name entertainers like Sheryl Crowe and Adele come to the amphitheater," he said. "There will be a Christmas tree, an Easter bunny. All the kind of things you would expect. A 4th of July celebration and so on."
The plan got the final approval Tuesday from the Downtown Development Review Board at City Hall.
Now, construction of Unity Plaza can begin. Coley said it should be complete within a year.
