JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Michael Dunn's parents, Philip Dunn and Sandra Dunn, left the Duval County Courthouse just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

"Let the jury do their job," said Philip Dunn as police officers escorted the couple to their car.

Moments later, Jordan Davis' parents exited the same courthouse door saying they're still hopeful, despite the jury's multiple questions about evidence throughout the day.

"You want a fair and just decision," said Ron Davis. "And I think they're taking great care of being thorough because the spotlight is on Jacksonville all over the world."

Jordan Davis' mother, Lucia McBath, spoke for the first time since the trial began.

"It has been very, very hard all this time to be patient over this past year and to continue being as patient as the hours and the minutes go by. ... We're just patiently waiting. We believe that justice will be served and no matter what happens, we'll move forward."

Ron Davis said he will respect the jury's decision, and he hopes the community will do the same.

"If we get the verdict we want, his family isn't going to smile. They're going to have tears in their eyes and I'm going to be very respectful of that."

Ron Davis said he is hopeful the jury will reach a verdict prior to what would have been Jordan's 19th birthday on Sunday, Feb. 16.
