JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jordan Davis' family walked out of the Duval County Courthouse Friday, surrounded by cameras and demonstrators who chanted in their support.
"Thank you. Thank you, sir," said Ron Davis, responding to the crowd who repeated, "Justice for Jordan Davis," and reached out to shake his hand.
After three days and more than 20 hours of jury deliberations, there's still no closure for either the Davis or Dunn families.
"We're still feeling hopeful," said Lucia McBath, Jordan Davis' mother, "but we knew that it wasn't going to be done overnight, so we've been prepared to stand and wait patiently."
They're now one day closer to what would have been Jordan Davis' 19th birthday this Sunday.
"We don't really want the jury's verdict to come down on his birthday," said his father. "But it may be that way."
Until there is a verdict, Jordan Davis' parents said the crowd outside the courthouse, including the media, is keeping them hopeful.
"We certainly appreciate you guys, and if you just hold on with us we hope to have a great verdict tomorrow. OK? That's all we have to say. Thank you guys very, very much."
