GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Tina Potter picked up her phone in Clay County Sunday night and got scared by what she saw.
The text she received was one Verizon wireless is warning its customers about.
They are messages directing subscribers to pay their bill on bogus websites.
Verizon calls it a scam.
On its website, Verizon warns,"Once there, you are asked to provide personal information -- such as a credit card or Social Security number so that your service can be continued."
Potter said, "I'm so fed up with this. These scam artists need to be exposed some how or another."
Verizon set up a website
where people can report problems and get information about fraud and scam alerts.
