JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local charity has become a casualty in the nationwide scandal surrounding Allied Veterans of the World.
The group was shut down in an internet café gambling investigation.
The group was the primary source of funding for The Jacksonville Veterans Center, Inc.
Right now, there are 25 veterans staying at the center completing a four-step program to get them back on the road to independence.
Robert Vansickle is a veteran who is building custom-made chairs as a way to raise money to keep the center open.
The agency has set up a website
