JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Election 2012 is less than one month away, and on Thursday, voters will watch the only debate between current Vice President Joe Biden and Republican nominee Congressman Paul Ryan.
Ryan has never debated on the national stage before, and says he's preparing to see he opponent on top of his game.
"He's fast on cuff. He's a witty guy. He knows who he is, and he's been doing this 40 years, so you're not gonna rattle Joe Biden."
Biden says he's been doing his research on Ryan as well.
"What I've been doing mostly...is studying up on Congressman Ryan's positions on the issues and that Governor Romney has embraced...I don't want to say anything in the debate that's not completely accurate."
UNF Political Science Professor Matthew Corrigan says Ryan will likely focus on big policy details while Biden will likely use emotion to grab attention.
"One of the functions of the VP or the VP nominee is to do some of the attacking to make clear their candidate is the best, and the other's full of flaws."
Corrigan says there will also be one obvious difference.
"It's interesting because they're really from two different generations. You've got Joe Biden who's been in politics a very long time, and you got Paul Ryan who's kind of a newcomer."
One topic that could come up is Mitt Romney's remarks on abortion. Democrats say he made two contradictory comments will campaigning in Ohio this week. They are as follows:
"There's no legislation with regard to abortion that I am familiar with that would become apart of my agenda."
"I think i've said time and again that I'm a pro-life candidate and I'll be a pro-life President. The actions I'll take immediately is to remove funding for planned parenthood."
The first and only Vice-Presidential debate will take place at 9 PM on CBS 47 and FOX 30, and will be streamed live on ActionNewsJax.com.
