JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- A local man says he survived a violent encounter with three men, who burst into an Arlington home with a shotgun. Two of the suspects are dead because the homeowner fought back.

It was a visitor they weren't anticipating.

"I heard the screen door open. I asked my friend Tommy 'Are you expecting anyone?'," recounted the witness.

What started as a movie night with five friends, ended in bloodshed. A witness, still shaken up, tells Action News that seconds later the door was kicked in and three intruders holding a shotgun, ordered them to get on the floor.

"I went to the ground like everyone else on the couch, not knowing my friend was able to get his 9-mm," he said.

We're told the homeowner grabbed his handgun, fired several rounds and allegedly killed 24-year-old Aaron Harris. The witness tells me the others fled, leaving behind a bloody trail. Hours later a body was found by a dumpster at the Monument Road Animal Hospital. That body has not yet been identified.

"At this point we don't have a positive I.D., but a man did die of gunshot wounds, and there is a possibility he was the suspect in the home invasion over there," said JSO Sgt. Shawn Coarsey.

Matthew Wilson, owner of the animal hospital, tells Action News his employee made the gruesome discovery.

"She was obviously emotional. We're still in shock. It's nothing you would expect to see when you come to work in the morning, especially a business that's been there 20 years and never had anything like this happen," said Wilson.

If you know anything that could help police in this case, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
