Volusia County man accused of stealing 3,485 lbs. of scrap metal

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A man from Deland is behind bars accused of stealing and reselling scrap metals from a landfill he works at.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, 46-year-old Korey Woulard stole and resold scrap metal from Tomoka Landfill.

Deputies said Woulard sold 3,485 lbs. of metal. He sold copper, brass, and batteries since August, deputies said.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Woulard made $3,723.82 from selling the metals.

Deputies said they arrested Woulard for grand theft, dealing in stolen property and violation of the secondary metal recyclers act.

I don't advocate stealing at all, but come on, SCRAP FROM A LANDFILL???? He was probably doing good old Mother Earth a favor.
