PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.-- In the months since her dog was attacked and killed by two pit bulls on the beach she lives on, Kathy Doolittle hasn't been able to enjoy her oceanfront property. She says it brings back too many horrible memories.

"When you have your dog totally destroyed while you're holding it in your arms and you're trying to protect it and you're watching it take its last breath, you see that in your head every day of your life," said Doolittle.

But Thursday she could start to heal. She said there's new justice for her 8-pound Pomeranian, Cassidy. The State Attorney's Office issued a warrant for the pit bull's owner, Doolittle's neighbor, Julie Shumer. The warrant blames Shumer for the attack.

"It's about responsibility. It's about making people responsible for their animals," said Doolittle.

According to the warrant,Shumer's dogs had a violent history which included seven other attacks.

I went to Shumer's home and a man who claimed to be walking the pit bulls during the attack came to the door. He said he couldn't comment because of the pending case and that Shumer was out of town.

As for Doolittle, nothing will bring back her best friend, but she hopes Cassidy's death serves as a warning to others.

"It may save a life," she said. "You just have to be accountable for your animals."

An uncle baby-sitting the newborn left the child on a bed unattended while he went to the kitchen to prepare a bottle for her, Solis said. When he returned, he found the family's Pomeranian dog on the bed attacking the baby, Solis said. The man freed the child from the dog and called for help. Pit bulls are not made vicious by bad owners, it's genetically hardwired into FIGHTING breed dogs as seen in the study by Semyonova at the truth about pit bulls dot BlogSpot dot com. Pit bulls are the only breed KILLIN the people who breed, rescue, and advocate for it as seen at the canine game changer dot BlogSpot dot com. This is only EIGHT attacks by these dogs-is Animal Control going to do its job and protect the public by having the dogs put down or are they going to act like pit bull social workers and wait until a PERSON is killed?

This is sad, poor little dog. I hope the coward owner is caught. HE made those dogs vicious. He caused the preventable and unnecessary death of at least 3 dogs just in this story alone.
