JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- A waterspout -- see video by Gabriel Arnold -- formed offshore of Fernandina Beach near noon today (Wed., Sept. 26th) -- click
here to send your weather photos and video. The spout was part of a heavy shower that moved onshore during the lunch hour. The waterspout dissipated before reaching the coast but heavy rain fell in and near Fernandina Beach. The weather pattern will change little through Thursday with onshore winds bringing moisture inland from the Atlantic. Towering tropical clouds will bring brief but locally heavy showers near the coast early in the day then penetrating inland by afternoon with a few isolated thunderstorms. Higher humidity will mean warmer overnight temperatures with lows in the 60s well inland, 70s closer to the coast. Highs will be in the 80s.
