JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Monster Jam attracted a sold-out crowd of about 72,000 people but after the show finished, downtown was a major traffic mess.

The rain made matters even worse.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office used its Twitter accounts to urge drivers to be patient and to guide them through the best routes.

Monster truck fan Joshua Dorsey said he came prepared to wait.

"I'm prepared for that. I have snacks in the car," said Dorsey.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, with more than 20 events happening in downtown tonight the delays may have felt never-ending.

"Just be patient. We've got sell-out crowds. We're going to have thousands and thousands of people leaving the sports complex area," said Lt. Tony Davis of JSO.

In preparation for the show, JSO prohibited parking on Bay Street and instead made it a two westbound- and two eastbound-lane road.

JSO also set aside a pick-up location on Georgia Street between Adams and Duval streets.

Traffic patterns did return to normal about an hour after the end of the show.

FIRST OF ALL THE show never finished for most ppl because probably 65000 people were leaving at the beginning of the downpour. However, we had a BLAST - it was a great show!
