JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mayor Alvin Brown will welcome U.S. Army Major Betty Murthil to the River City Monday morning.
Major Murthil is an Admissions Counselor for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The two leaders will meet with a dozen local students who are hoping to pursue carrerrs with the U.S. Army.
For more than 200 years, the U.S. Military Academy has challenged cadets academically, physically and ethically to prepare them for service to the country.
Major Murthil will also visit students at three local schools to speak about life at the USMA, answer student questions, and explain the dedication it takes to pursue a military career. She will be at the following schools Monday:
7:30 a.m. – Mandarin High School
11:30 a.m. – Eugene Butler Middle School
1:15 p.m. – Northwestern Middle School
Major Murthil and the Mayor will meet at City Hall at 9:30 AM.
