JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Your "First Alert": not all is lost today as far as the weather is concerned! Rain is shifting south & east as a strong cold front moves through Jacksonville but not before dropping the most widespread rain in more than 2 weeks with amounts averaging a half inch to 1.5" but locally as much as 2" (St. Simons Island, Ga-2.10").
The good news is that as ugly as the day is starting, today's weather will improve dramatically this afternoon. Rain will end by late morning followed by breaks in the clouds from northwest to southeast. By mid to late afternoon, skies will become partly sunny with temperatures recovering to the mid to upper 70s. Weather for the 3:30 Fl./Ga. kickoff will be nice - partly to mostly sunny....breeze from the NW at 10-20 mph...a temperature near 77 degrees.
Sunday will be a pleasant autumn day under partly to mostly sunny skies. A cool start in the 40s and 50s but temperatures will recover to the upper 60s to mid 70s in the afternoon.
