Wet weather affects Wacona Elementary operations
WAYCROSS, Ga. -- Heavy rainfall over the last several weeks in Ware County could cause delays for students going back to school to Wacona Elementary.
The school's main parking lot will be closed at least for the next seven day while crews try to finish a construction project.
Until the project is completed, the school says all drop off and vehicle traffic should enter the campus using Park Avenue.
School offices have also temporality been moved to the fine arts building.
They also note that traffic will be allowed to go west on Wacona Drive until further notice.
The Ware County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Transportation will both be on hand to make sure traffic during the first weeks of school operate smoothly.
Students in Pierce and Ware counties go back to school Aug. 5.
