Whipping winds usher in cold front

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Southerly winds hit 20 mph sustained in Jacksonville around the noon hour on Wednesday. Winds in parts of South Georgia and North Florida have gusted above 35 mph already.
        The wind-generating cold front is still hours away from Jacksonville and the Beaches. So the First Alert Weather Team is forecasting more strong winds through Wednesday night.
        In the meantime, temperatures are soaring. At noon, temperatures around parts of Duval County had already reached 80 degrees. 83 degrees in the Jacksonville record for January 30th and 84 degrees is the all-time January monthly record! We'll be right there to tie or even break the records by day's end.
        A band of rain is expected tonight around midnight. Severe weather is NOT likely even though the storm system has had a history of severe winds and tornadoes. We'll see the rain move east overnight. Then the sun returns for Thursday.
        It'll be much cooler to finish the work week. Highs will only be in the low 60s. Overnight lows will fall into the 30s for Friday morning and Saturday morning. A light freeze can be expected inland.
