JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- ** First Alert Weather Day **.... download the First Alert Weather iPad App.... send weather photos and video... go to the First Alert Weather page
A strong cold front is slamming into the very warm, humid air over Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia and triggering numerous heavy showers and a few thunderstorms.  Everyone will get at least some rain with totals for today and tonight averaging a quarter to three-quarters of an inch but locally 1-2".  The afternoon commute will no doubt be slow at times.
Rain will gradually diminish from west to east late tonight into early Wednesday and will be followed by much cooler temperatures.  Skies will clear through the day Wednesday and afternoon highs will still manage to reach well into the 70s.  Clear skies, dry air and light winds will help plummet temperatures Wednesday night into the 40s inland, the 50s closer to the St. Johns River, intracoastal and beaches.
