JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Strong winds knocked down the awning at a local gas station.

The damage happened to a BP gas station on Philips Highway in Bayard.

A worker told Action News he heard wind followed by the sound of the awning over the gas pumps crashing down.

No one was under the canopy at the time of the crash, except for a work truck belonging to West Tower Communications.  The truck remains trapped under the wreckage.

There are some minor power outages in the area.  JEA is reporting more than 2,000 power outages scattered across town.  Clay Electric has nearly 200 customers without electricity.
