PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the accidental drowning of a 36-year-old woman in Interlachen.

Putnam County deputies with the dive team, marine unit and major crimes unit responded to Lake Grandin in reference to a report of a female swimmer in distress.

Lee Ann Larson, 36, had been riding on a pontoon boat with two male companions before getting in the water to swim. Larson began to struggle and her companions were unable to restart the boat in order to come to her aid. The men threw a flotation device in her vicinity but it was too late and they lost her under water.

A civilian boater transported rescue personnel to the area where Larson was last seen. They later recovered her body and she was pronounced dead on scene.

Preliminary results indicate this was accidental and no foul play is suspected. The investigation is ongoing pending results of the autopsy and toxicology results from the Medical Examiners Office.
