Woman arrested for stabbing family dog
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local 22-year-old was charged with Animal Cruelty Sunday after she admitted to stabbing her family's Labrador Retriever several times.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, a man called police Sunday night saying that he believed his daughter had killed their family dog.
When police arrived, they found the 10-year-old female Labrador Retriever in a neighbor's front yard with multiple severe stab wounds.
The investigation revealed that Mariessa Caggiano found the dog laying in the driveway and stabbed it with an 8-inch butcher knife. Caggiano chased the dog into a neighbor's yard and stabbed it six more times.
The dog was taken to an emergency veterinary hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Caggiano told police she stabbed the dog because she wanted to. She was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty.
