JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  A local woman's run to the store turned violent when she was carjacked in broad daylight. The woman got into a scuffle after she tried to hold on to her car for dear life.

You do it without even thinking twice, get in your car and turn it on. But you never think someone will jump in your car and try to rape you. That happened to Joleen Rahorst on Sunday.
She was heading home from the flea market and stopped at a Westside gas station. Her boyfriend ran inside while she waited in the car.

"I'm messing with the radio and next thing I look up, this guy getting in the car," said Rahorst.

She was terrified and shaking. Even Monday her voice still trembled. "All I could do is scream help me help me. He took a hold of my arm and took off. I said you can have the car, just let me out. He said I'm not going to hurt you," said Rahorst.

She said he was going to rape her. He took off driving with her still in the car, but they didn't get very far. Rahorst broke free. "When I finally got his arm off me I jumped out and by the grace of God I'm still standing here and if I wouldn't have gotten his arm off me I wouldn't be standing here," said Rahorst.

She has a big bruise on her leg and she's in a lot of pain. What you can't see is what's happening on the inside. She's having nightmares about what happened.

"I can't sleep. Every time I close my eyes I see his face," said Rahorst.

Rahorst told us the suspect was was chased down by police canines and he was arrested. Police couldn't confirm that for us tonight.
