MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman is behind bars in Marion County on charges of driving under the influence.

The sheriff's office said Elin Marie Peterson had a blood alcohol level of .41, which is five times the legal limit of .08.

Authorities rushed Peterson to the hospital due to the high blood alcohol level. She has since been released from the hospital and taken to jail.

Peterson told deputies, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, that she is "considered an alcoholic and that is how I went off the road."

"considered an alcoholic and that is how I went off the road." Newsflash. Alcoholics do not go 'off the road' unless they are 'off the wagon' and DRIVING. She sounds like she's looking for some legitimate excuse for her behavior. Hopefully, she won't be driving any more. We'll see.
