ST. AUGUSTINE Fla.-- Drywall in the dirt, power lines on the lawn; all after a car crashed through a home in a quiet St. Augustine neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Danielle Larece was on her way home from church when her husband says her car failed to stop as she turned into her Garage off Cappero Drive.
"She said 'Call 911 honey, I went through the house,'" said Joe Larace.
Larace said his wife went to slam on her breaks and instead slammed on the accelerator, taking out her wall, an electrical box and power throughout her neighborhood.
Crews restored power to Cappero Drive quickly, but the Larece family will be without lights for the next few days. The couple is able to laugh about the mishap since nobody was injured.
"I [couldn't] care less about the house," Larece said. "I care about my wife."
Neighbors donated power generators to keep the refrigerator running, but Larece and his wife say they will make plans to live elsewhere until power is fully restored and their home is completely boarded up.
