Woman hit and killed while crossing street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One woman is dead after a being hit and killed while crossing the street.

It happened Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Myrtle Avenue.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tells Action News Letisha West was crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when she was hit by car.

Police say they believe the car had a green light.

@imtellin - have you considred that the pedestrian may have already been crossing the street and the driver of the vehicle wasn't paying attention or speeding? It's easy to say "another one bites the dust" until it happens to one of your family members. Pray it doesn't and if it does, I pray you don't remember the message you left for another family.

must be the water ??? never have i seen the propensity for stepping off the curb in front of oncoming masses of 4000 pounds of steel & iron,, as i have since i've returned home after a 20 year absence !!! what is it about some folks that wrongly assume the vehicle will stop,swerve, or somehow avoid running their stupid ashes over ??? well another one bites the dust,, keep on trucking folks,, me i'll look 3 x's before steppin out !!!
