JACKSONVILLE Fla.-- Sabrina Wilcox says she's almost all out of tears over the loss of her daughter Katrina.

Police say 30-year old Katrina Wilcox was killed over a card game gone violent at a BBQ Saturday night. She was shot inside the apartment where the game was being played and died shortly after.

"How do you go from a cookout to burying your child," said her mother.

Wilcox told Action News her daughter's bright future was cut short.  She was just about to blossom and open her own barber shop. Friends and family say Wilcox was a peaceful person.

"She wasn't a violent person at all.  She was just living and enjoying life and somebody took my baby for no reason," said her mother.

JSO took at least one of Wilcox's neighbors in for questioning but so far, they say no arrests have been made.

Wilcox says she hopes her daughter's tragedy serves as an example to helps put an end to gun violence in Jacksonville.

"It's too much and it needs to stop," said Wilcox. "It really needs to stop."

The incident remains under investigation.

Maybe her "baby" shouldn't have been playing cards with a bunch of J-ville thugs.
