Woman struck & killed by semi on I-75
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- A woman from Virginia was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer in Alachua County early Wednesday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a man was driving a semi down I-75 near mile marker 387 when an object moved in front of his truck. The driver had no room to avoid hitting the object.
The driver got out of his truck and realized he'd hit a pedestrian. Ashley Lawson, 28, of Chesapeake, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
