JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JEA is reporting energy readings reaching 2,823 megawatts just after 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. For some perspective, 1 megawatt powers 400 to 600 homes.

JEA is also reporting 270 power outages.

The peak hour is expected between 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. when people are up and getting ready for work or school.

According to JEA, power will be back on around 10:30 a.m. Some of the crew is going to install a new transformer because the one in the neighborhood is told, according to the company.

JEA has extra crews on standby in case of any outages. Extra staff is also working at generation facilities.

According to JEA, it does not expect to break any records. The mega watt usage is expected to peak at about 2,900 Tuesday.

JEA's record remains at more than 3,000 megawatts on Jan. 11, 2010.
