JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer was involved in a traffic crash that killed 27-year-old Laporsha Watson.

Lieutenant Jimmy Riggs was traveling northbound on I-95 near 8th Street when he struck Watson attempting to cross the highway. Watson was then struck by second vehicle. Lt. Riggs was driving his police cruiser.

The crash happened just 10 yards from an overhead crosswalk. JSO checked to see if there was a reason she didn't use it, but found nothing wrong with the entrance to the crosswalk.
