JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Here are three things you need to know before you leave the house in freezing weather conditions.
Number one. When you get to your car, you'll likely have ice on your windshield. Either scrape it off or poor room temperature water on it. DO NOT poor hot water on your windshield, it could crack it.
Number two. When you turn on your car to warm it up, make sure to either lock your doors, only if you have a spare set of keys, or keep an eye on your car. DO NOT leave your car unattended. It would be very easy for someone to jump in and take off with it.
Number three. Watch out for black ice on the road. If sprinklers are on overnight, or there's water on the roads, the mixture of water and freezing temperatures is the prefect recipe for black ice. If you do run into black ice, just ease off the gas slowly. DO NOT slam on your breaks.
Take precautions before heading out this morning.
