JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Dr. Steve Wallace has left his position as president of Florida State College of Jacksonville amidst an investigation into the wrongful awarding of financial aid to some students.

A special board meeting was held Tuesday morning. Earlier this month, the board chair asked another board member to talk with attorneys about Dr. Wallace's contract.

Wallace was paid more than $300,000 a year under his four-year contract. It was due to expire in 2016. Local attorney Hank Coxe was also hired to consult on the case.

The board dropped the ball on this one…They should have fired him, before he had a chance to resign. In resigning, he'll be walking away with a lot more money, then he would have upon dismissal!
