Mosquito control commissioner arrested for DUI

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The Anastasia Mosquito Control Commissioner Janice Bequette has been arrested for DUI.

The St. Johns County Sherrif's Office received a call about a reckless driver on I-95 around 11:48 p.m. on August 31. 

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper saw Bequette's grey Ford Mustang just north of the State Road 16 exit. The Mustang sped up with no lights on and got off at the SR 16 exit and headed west. 

Bequette pulled over for the FHP officer in front of the Days Inn on SR 16 where she was arrested and charged with DUI. 

Bequette, 40, was booked into the SJC jail around 12:20 a.m. on September 1. She is up for re-election in November for her mosquito control commissioner seat.
