INTERLACHEN, Fla. -- One person is dead after being shot several times during a fight between friends at a home at Putnam Avenue and Sherman Drive.

"The homeowner called law enforcement and asked them to come and have this gentleman removed from this property...from there it escalated to the point where there was a shooting," Deputy Hancel Woods with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.

According to police, 53-year-old Rafael Gomez went to the shooter's house Monday morning for unknown reasons. The two got into an argument, both men armed themselves, and the homeowner shot the victim several times.  The homeowner called 911 and remained at the scene to speak with deputies.

Neighbors say the two were part of the same family.

"The guy that got shot was his stepdad. The guy that shot him was his stepson," Lisa Gomez said.

Gomez was taken to Putnam Community Medical Center, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.  No arrests have been made.
