Veterans Charity Scandal: Suspects face a laundry list of charges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A number of suspects arrested in Operation Reveal the Deal, including several from Jacksonville, are due back in court this afternoon in an effort to make bond.

Waking up in jail jumpsuits this morning are attorney Kelly Mathis, who is described as the alleged mastermind. The once president of the Jacksonville Bar Association is said to have profited at least $6 million.

JSO top brass are also among the fallen being held in Seminole County. Nelson Cuba and Robert Freitas, the President and Vice President of the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police. 

The list of charges is so long it took the Seminole County sheriff almost a minute to go through it.

"All the individuals arrested will be charged with racketeering and influenced corrupt organization otherwise known as RICO; that's 57 counts. Rico conspiracy, 57 counts, possession of slot machines, 614 counts; 614 counts of gaming violations; 614 counts of keeping a gaming house and 1265 counts of money laundering."

The suspects are returning to court today for a bond hearing.  Action News Leslie Coursey is inside the courtroom for the hearing.  Check back for her updates.
