SANFORD, Fla. -- George Zimmerman's fate will be sealed in a matter of days.  The prosecution kicked off its closing arguments Thursday afternoon with two simple sentences.

"A teenager is dead.  He is dead through no fault of his own," said prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda.

His argument centered around what he believes was Zimmerman's fatal flaw that February night in 2012.  He assumed Martin was a criminal.

The assistant state attorney from Jacksonville said, "He profiled him as a criminal.  He assumed certain things.  That Trayvon Martin was up to no good.  And that is what led to his death."

The prosecution is trying to debunk Zimmerman's claim that he killed 17-year-old Martin in self-defense, painting him as a trigger-happy wannabe cop, looking to stop a string of burglaries in his neighborhood.

"So that night, he was going to be what he wanted to be," said de la Rionda.  "A police officer."

Zimmerman said he was on the losing end of a bloody fistfight, and that he shot the teenager so the beating would stop.

Tomorrow, Zimmerman's attorneys will plead his case one last time.
