‘Empire' Recap: Cookie goes to the opera

The fourth episode of the third season of “Empire” involved fights, romance and more! Here are the most important parts of the latest episode of “Empire.”

Angelo and Cookie go to the opera.

Angelo invites Cookie to the opera. Cookie is seen in her closet trying on many outfits for her first date with Angelo. She arrives at the opera in a short red dress, and he tells her the event is actually a fundraiser.

Angelo introduces Cookie to some of his friends, who begin talking about the time they spend at Martha’s Vineyard. Cookie says she has spent some time in Connecticut – in prison. Later, Cookie overhears Angelo's friends talking negatively about her in the bathroom and confronts them.

Cookie and Angelo meet up again at a streaming event for Tiana’s new song. Lucious tries to threaten Angelo, but that doesn’t seem to faze him.

Jamal gets Freda out of jail.

Jamal goes to visit Freda Gatz in jail and sees that she has been viciously beaten up. He decides that he’s going to attempt to get her out of prison.

Jamal bribed someone to say that Freda had mental health issues in past and gave testimony at her parole hearing that the Lyon family caused her lapse in judgment.

Later, Terrence explains that he arranged for Freda to be beaten up in prison to set the ball in motion for Jamal to get her out.

Andre hooks up with Nessa.

Andre notices Nessa while Lucious is attempting to convince her to sign with Empire. Later, in an attempt to convince Nessa to sign with Empire, Andre connected with Nessa.

“If I had your musical talent, I would already own Empire,” Andre said. They later became romantic, and Andre saw the ghost of Rhonda.
