If you're looking for educational information on cancer, the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and other health-oriented organizations are excellent sources. They will be able to provide free brochures and other material to help answer many of your questions. The National Cancer Institute can be reached at 1/800/4-C-A-N-C-E-R or call the American Cancer Society at 1/800/A-C-S-2345. Both offer free material on prevention and detection, basic facts about cancer, information about different kinds of cancer, and the latest research. Organizations that focus on a specific type of cancer, such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at 1/800/955-4572 and the American Brain Tumor Association 1/800/886-2282, are other good resources. Ask your healthcare provider for information. They can answer questions, give you information, and provide you with other educational resources.
