For some people living alone, a medical response system can be a lifesaver. These systems provide full on-site monitoring similar to security alarm systems. A variety of signals can be transmitted from your house to a central monitoring service. You can wear a transmitter around your wrist or neck to call for help wherever you may be. Other transmitters can be attached to a key chain or mounted within the home. Automatic sensors can detect fire, smoke, falls, inactivity, and wandering off, and alert the monitoring system. Many different transmitters can be linked to one response system. When the monitoring station receives the signal, they can take the appropriate action. Perhaps you need a nurse or an ambulance or need to contact someone for assistance. An emergency response system can do all this and more.
