A game of basketball or a round of golf doesn't have to be canceled because of rain. Just make mini versions to play indoors. A basketball hoop is an easy project. Just cut out the bottom of a paper cup and tape the cup to the edge of a table, bookcase or wall. For the balls, use crumpled-up paper or aluminum foil. A mini golf game can be made from a small tin can, popsicle sticks, and the same balls you used for mini basketballs. Remove one end of the can and tape it to the floor. That's the hole, and the popsicle sticks are your clubs. If you really want to get creative, make hazards around the hole. Get creative-- a square of sandpaper can be the rough; a group of candlesticks turn into trees. Kids may find that constructing a golf course is as much fun as playing on it.
