Meghan Moriarty

Meghan Moriarty joined the Action News Jax team in August 2019, and she’s thrilled to call Jacksonville her new home.

The New Jersey native previously worked for the NBC station in Charlottesville, Virginia. There, she was a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor.

In Charlottesville, Meghan covered several national stories, including the University of Virginia Men’s Basketball Championship and the 2017 Unite the Right Rally. She was the first TV reporter on the scene where white supremacists, holding lit tiki torches, clashed with counter-protesters. She continued to cover the deadly rally the following day, along with the aftermath that followed.

She also contributed to the station’s Associated Press award-winning coverage of an Amtrak train that derailed, carrying dozens of US Congressmen. The crash involved a trash truck that maneuvered around safety gates and onto the tracks. Meghan was the first to obtain the driver’s medical records, showing he had a high level of marijuana in his system at the time of the crash.

Prior to reporting, Meghan was a Video Editor for the CBS affiliate, WUSA*9, in Washington DC.

She is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College. Go Terps!

When she's not on the job, you can find Meghan training for her next race, reading a good thriller, or looking for a new restaurant to try!
